Starbucks Korea has announced it will temporarily shut down all its branches across the nation to provide employees with a comprehensive history lesson. Mandatory Training for Over 2,000 Stores
On June 22, more than 2,000 Starbucks locations will cease operations at 3 p.m. to facilitate the mandatory training. Employees will participate in viewing recorded lectures focused on modern Korean history and will also engage in sessions designed to enhance “social sensitivity.” This initiative aims to address the concerns raised by the public and reinforce the company's commitment to cultural understanding.

The half-day closure is projected to result in substantial financial losses for Starbucks Korea. According to figures provided by data firm IGAWorks, the company anticipates an estimated 2.1 billion won (approximately $1.4 million) in lost sales due to the temporary shutdown.
